Here's my study...sample of one...on test weighing. In our intermediate care
nursery we weighed an infant clothed, fed him 30 ml mother's milk by gavage,
and then reweighed under the same conditions. Infant gained exactly 30
grams. We were actually surprised at the accuracy of the scale and the
method. We should do a larger sample of our gavage fed babies, since the
measurement of the amount of milk we give in these situations is so exact.
Or if in doubt, zero the scale with an empty container, fill to a specified
amount and check the correlation.
