Hi Julie,
THe information we have on unilateral bf and breast cancer risk comes
from a study of asian women who bf unilaterally and used their other
hand for work. I forget the exact details, but there was an increased
risk of br ca in the unsuckled breast. What that would mean in your
situation is debatable, because you fed for a year before weaning from
one breast.
No amount of breastfeeding is a guarantee against breast cancer,
unfortunately, and we need to be careful to do our BSE no matter how
long we bf, IMHO.
