Its always a good idea to refer the mom to call the peds to find out what
would be safe for the infant to take in regards to pain medication. Based on
what they said then it could be checked out in Tom Hale's book to make sure
it is approved by the AAP for breastfeeding. I agree with an earlier post
that when your in pain it defintely affects the appetite. Skin to skin
contact was an excellent suggestion. What comfort to that poor infant that
must be in tremendous pain.
