Kimberly Jackson asks about management in the case of prenatal breast
engorgement seemingly associated with preterm labor.
I haven't seen this myself, but if I did see it, I would want to know what
medications, if any, mother had received and then I would want to know
whether they could cause generalized edema for any reason, which might be
manifesting itself as breast engorgement.
If the engorgement is bothersome, mother could express and store the
colostrum obtained. Maybe her breasts know something she and her carers
don't, namely that the baby could be here any time and will need food.
