Chris asks how mothers who had been using one of the books might feel.
Well, one of the books is one *I* used as a mother and which I use, in
certain circumstances, as a Supporter. I was gob-smacked when I first came
on Lacnet to find that this author was vilified in a consistent way on this
list. when I asked (?a year ago) about this, no one gave a coherent
defencse of this vituperative way of speaking about this author.
BTW, when I first saw the subject of this post I assumed that it was going
to be about Sears and his books. Whatever happened to the explanation we
were going to receive from him? I didn't blink and miss it, did I? As I
have said before, I have never read his books, just barely heard of him
before all this, but if he is a big deal, then the association he formed is
a big deal, so I am interested in knowing its resolution.
Aside: I have been reading my way through Naomi Klein's 'No Logo' and been
having various thoughts about the relation to what she says and
breastfeeding. One of the thoughts has been about the 'branding' of the
spaces, like the Sears web site, in which breastfeeding info appears. Has
anyone else been reading this book and applying it to our work?
