In light of all the breast refusal discussions here lately, I wonder if
anyone has experience with this disorder? Sensory Integration Disorder. Or
SID as I have heard it called. From what I understand it affects mostly
babies who had traumatic births, but can also affect any baby, and
apparently a lot of these moms are having troubles breastfeeding. The best
ways they have found is to lay down, allow the baby to cuddle as much or as
little as it wants. Some of these babies are just happy to take the breast
and not be touched in any other way. As these kids get older they are
usually shy, have some perceived behavioral problems, and don't like to be
hugged and cuddled like other kids do. I don't know a lot more about this
but they do have a web site incase anyone is interested in learning more.
www.kid-power.com/sid.html I just think it's very important that we keep up
on things like this, the more knowledge we have about these types of
disorders the more we'll be able to help new moms faced with it.
