This stuff has been around for a long time in vet medicine and humans use
it (off label) too for arthritis and inflammatory conditions.  It is
readily absorbed through the skin and the after taste  is typical after
application.  I'd go the safer route and have someone else treat the horse.
 Haven't got a clue as to  implications for nursing baby.  Sincerely, Pat
