This is my daily frustration. I work in a community based telephone
triage service. I am pretty laid back and easy going, yet I am viewed
as the radical witch of breastfeeding. Even by those who breastfed
their own children. We just would never want to make those mothers feel
guilty! I have just put up a bulletin board encouraging all the nurses
to post information from journals and conferences promoting evidence
based nursing in their specialties. I'm hoping it will encourage them
to be more open about the breastfeeding information. Evidence based
practice is my mantra today. I'm willing to hear from anyone with
suggestions, but my suggestion to the OB/GYN office is patience, and to
try the evidence based approach. I can't promise, but maybe it will
work.
