I can't take credit for this because I read it somewhere years ago, but wanted to discuss this with those who don't like to cut syringes to make nipple extenders. Me included. I like this way better.
Get two complete syringes. Be sure one is large enough to accomodate mom's nipple.
Take the plunger part out of that one and throw it away.
Connect the two with a piece of flexible tubing. I cut old breast pump tubing into sections about six or eight inches long. Have mom hold the empty top of the syringe up to her nipple. With the other hand, gently slide back the complete syringe until the nipple everts. Hold a few seconds and repeat.
Drop it on the bed, put the baby to the breast, and TA DA.... hopefully there will be a latch!
