Hi! I wanted to share briefly on this one. My third child was born at 36
wks by c-sec (w/ epidural) due to placenta previa. My husband held her in
the OR, then carried her by my side to the recovery room. She nursed, eyes
open, for thirty minutes. The wonderful recovery room nurse called the
nursery and told them that the baby wouldn't be there until Mom (me) was
ready to send her. Dad walked baby to nursery, talked w/ doc as he did exam,
then brought her back. When we got to our room, nurse placed baby in my
bed. Any time anyone came in to check baby out, she was placed right back
in my bed.(Rounds were done at bedside.) The attending ped. (a woman) even
changed a dirty diaper! Rooming in was assumed as there was no well baby
nursery. Not once did I even see a pacifier, or any kind of ABM ads or
logos. From the time my baby was born to the four days later when we left,
I was never separated from her except for her brief trip to the nursery/lab
after birth, and once every 24hours for weight checks. The scale was at the
nurses station and she was gone only 3 min. per check. (I timed it.) In
case nobody has guessed...she was born at a *Baby Friendly Hospital*!
