I just hope the mothers learn not to end feeds by the same
method used for separating pop-it beads!
Well, one "old wives' tale" that is useful is the one from Mexico that many
moms have told me...they knew not to pull the baby off so he/she made a
sucking sound..."because it would cause the soft spot (la mollera) to sink
in." Well, I'd try to explain that this was not a real risk, but at the
same time encouraged them NOT to pull the baby off "like a pop-it-bead" for
their own nipples' sake!
