I was very doctrinaire about BF with my first child, and as she was also
uninterested in solids until she was 6 months old, our plans meshed well.
But a few days before her 6 month birthday, she got very gassy, and the
smell was distinctly sulphurous. She was crawling about on the floor by
this age and curious about her surroundings. I still was surprised to find
when changing her, a couple of visible fragments of writing paper, complete
with lines, mixed in a fragrant (TIC) breastmilk stool, til I remembered her
orgy with a pad of my paper just days before. Taught me something about
transit time in the GI tract, though I don't know if the paper slowed down
her normal time...
Until then, she was exclusively breastfed. This was 1981 in N. America and
I had several acquaintances whose babies had the same dietary pattern. But
then, I have always been a deviant.
