That is also the case.  In two of the three cases I mentioned, I was actually
there.  In all three of the cases that I mentioned, I also saw the written
instructions from the lactation department.  In the case of the 5 lb baby,
the instructions were a standard handout for the reluctant nurser.

The hospitals are *very* busy and I know that these LC's are stretched very
very very thin.  There also may be hospital policies that are 'tying their
hands' with regard to their recommendations.
