Very interesting to hear that Michael Jordan was breastfed until three.
However as an African American, I like to encourage my families with role
models that can do more than shoot hoops, act, sing or dance. It's that
stereotype thing that I'm not thrilled about perpetuating. Less than 0.2% of
all student athletes become professional athletes.

In my own subversive way, I encourage my patient's families to focus on
whatever it takes to level the playing field academically (breastfeeding,
reading to their children early, turning off the TV and spending time with
their children).

My nerves are frayed lately due to my child being called the "N" word at his
daycare. I wonder if we can find the factor in breastmilk that can erase
that vocabulary word from the English language. That sounds as implausible
to me as attributing athletic prowess to breastfeeding. A non sequitor but
illuminating nevertheless.
