My latest breastfeeding interest is observing infant tongue, palate and
jaw relationships, and their effects on sucking skills. I suspect that
babies who curl their tongues have tongues that are longer than their
palate, and they just fit in their mouths better this way. In some
tongue-tip elevators, it can take awhile to learn to get the tongue down
to let in a breast, or even a bottle.
