Well, another new one. A mom has been pumping her milk for 3 weeks for a
baby who was not allowed to go to the breast due to a cardiac defect. (That
is a whole 'nother story!!) Anyway, she defrosted her milk and tells me that
it has a metallic odor and taste to it. Is this common with high lipase in
the milk? I have always associated a sour taste with lipase, not metallic.
Any suggestions on what to tell this mom. We DON'T want her to throw away all
of that precious milk, of course!
