Ooops, I think I probably just did some sloppy cutting and pasting, which
would be attributing the quoted comment to Marget instead of Kathy Boggs. My
apologies for the confusion.
I have strong feelings on this subject as the general opinion that's given by
the LC's of two local hospitals is that there's no such thing as nipple
confusion. I guess that they don't see the problems b/c mom's already been
discharged when this comes up and perhaps mom's either give up, or seek help
elsewhere - ie from LLL or another breastfeeding helper...a non hosp based
LC, etc.
It is a big problem. Virtually everyone I know that has quit breastfeeding
or never got started, quit or never got started b/c of nipple confusion. I
hear the supply thing much less.....and if they do think that's the problem,
we usually discover that it's not at all a supply problem, but a nipple
confusion/nipple preference problem.
