While waiting for more discussion, I should mention that I first saw cup
feeding being used in a film featuring Dr. Jack, working in Kenya. The
sight of those women sitting together hand-expressing into cups and
feeding their babies really impressed me. I remembered it years later
when I was doing that on a trip... I had lost an essential pump part,
had bought another one that didn't work, and ended up just hand
expressing as LLL had taught me into the medecine cup and feeding the
baby at the next stop. As my hand-expression techniques improved I was
able to just aim directly into her mouth and not worry so much about the
milk that spilled all over. She still has fun with this when I work out
plugged ducts.
