Cindy states;
<<As an RN and IBCLC , I think that hospitals want IBCLC's who are RN's
because they get "more for the money" so to speak... what I mean is not that
an RN/IBCLC is worth more than an IBCLC, but in the hospital setting they
can pull the RN/IBCLC from IBCLC to RN in a pinch when staffing is short.<<
I think this is very true Cindy. I also believe that they require Rn/LCs
because of their unfamiliarity with LCs in general. Most know very little
about what "makes an LC" and may feel that if the person is an RN, there is
more predictability. I think this will change, think of how much it has
changed in the last 5 years!
