I find them helpful.  Parents find them helpful.  Kay Hoover has a couple
of nice, reproducible ones that she has made up.

I would presume they are not given out willy-nilly, but with instructions
that are tailored to # of days after delivery etc.

Heinig reported at ILCA conv that they more commonly saw # of wets = # of
days after delivery plus 1.  So day one would be 2, day 2 would be 3 and so
on.  But we have to remember that these are babies delivered under some
pretty optimal CA conditions.

 I wish the study of what is normal could be done in lots of places under
lots of circumstances.  It just stands my hair on end to hear a mom told
6-8 wet diapers on day 2!  I would hazard a guess that even bottle babies
don't have 6-8 wet diapers on day 2.  Then the poor mom whose baby has 2-3
wet diapers on day 2 is SURE that she doesn't have enough milk and
supplements. 6-8 doesn't happen  until day 5-7 when mom's milk has come in
and baby is sucking and transferring milk in a reasonable fashion.
