What are our current recommendations based on? Science or guesswork? What
exactly happens to the milk if it is thawed, partially or completely, and
then refrozen? What "spoilage" (if any) occurs? Can anyone track back where
this practice is EVIDENCE BASED? or is it anecdotal -- or because we don't,
as a rule, take the steak out of the freezer, thaw it, and then put it back
in the freezer that evening because we decided to go to Alfie's for dinner
instead.

Or do we?

Could we?

Would we get sick? Would it taste funny?

When you get "previously frozen" fish at the grocery store, and you go home
and refreeze it -- what are you doing?

Does anyone ever eat the bag of frozen peas that has now defrosted all over
the engorged bosom?

Inquiring minds want to know for Jessica's sake.

IMHO, I'd tell the mom to smell/taste the milk. If it smells/tastes OK, then
don't dump it. But that's based on common sense, not science.

Jan in Wheaton (who takes meat out of the freezer and then changes her mind
and goes out to eat more often than her husband would like).
