I don't understand the reason for weaning here. The milk won't hurt the
baby. If the baby refuses that breast, mom can breastfeed on the other side
and pump the affected breast until the "thick milk" resolves, but my
experience has been that most babies will nurse even if the milk looks funny
to us!
I think we do best when we don't look at the milk - when it goes straight
from the mother's breast and down the baby's throat. Then we aren't worrying
about all the changes in appearance, colour, etc., that breastmilk goes
through - most of which don't bother the baby at all.
