"Mepformina" is probably Metformin (Hale- L3), also known as glucophage here
in the U.S. It is used for Type 2 diabetes and works by reducing insulin
resistance. I believe Tom is actually studying it in Australia right now.
Women with PCOS often use metformin, and moms with PCOS are starting to try
it during breastfeeding. Alternatives to metformin include rosiglitazone and
pioglitazone.
