Oh wise Lactnetters,
I read this statement in R/A that doesn't make sense. It is on p. 342 and
says:
By four months of age, breastfeeding babies were taking less milk (18.7
gm/day) whereas the infants receiving artificial baby milk were taking 23
gm/day.
Obviously, this can't mean 18.7 or 23 gm per day! Could it mean 18.7 gm/per
kg (baby's weight)/day?
It references Butte et. al., 1985, which is Feeding patterns of exclusively
breast-fed infants during the first four months of life. Early Hum Dev
12:291-300, 1985. I searched the archives for information on this study,
without success.
If anyone can shed light on this, I would be most appreciative!
