when do other places use an obturator for a cleft palate?
A colleague has had a baby with a large cleft, intact lip. The baby also had
bands of tissue like a tongue tie, but from gum to tongue, which have been
clipped, but the baby cannot form a seal/vacuum with the breast.
Reading the Medela brochure mentions the use of the obturator but the paed
surgeon and plastics team don't use them here - not sure if that is a NZ
thing or just this city.

I am so new at this stuff, having never dealt with a baby with a cleft
before!
