I feel sad for moms who do not have their partners support
with breastfeeding. I think the research shows lack of support as
one of the main reasons why women give up.
I give all of my moms a sheet to give to the father. It says:

FOR FATHERS ONLY
10 Steps to Father a Breastfed Baby

1 Provide ongoing support to the breastfeeding mother.
2 Act as a buffer between the mother and relatives or friends who may
   disapprove of breastfeedng.
3 Play an active role in making decisions about baby's health care.
4 Hold your baby face to face ; talk to him and touch him.
5 Take your baby for walks in the baby carrier or stroller.
6 Burp, diaper and play with your baby as much as possible.
7 Learn to put your baby to sleep by letting him fall asleep on your
shoulder or chest. (Dad is a place for comfort and rest too )
8 When your baby is fussy, walk, rock or sing to him.
9 When Mom is tired, encourage her to rest and bring baby to
   her when he wakes.
10 Give mom a break by taking care of baby between feedings.
