I didn't catch the beginning of this discussion.  Valerie would have more
credibility if she provided citations of the sources of her information.
Claims that foods are being genetically modified do not make it so -- is
oatmeal being genetically modified in the US?  Who knows -- certainly I
haven't seen any evidence, just Valerie's statements that it is.  Are
genetically modified foods dangerous?  Who knows.  At this point, I would
say that we have no way of knowing what sorts of harm (if any) or what
degree of harm or harm to who might come out of consuming genetically
engineered products.

The dyes in the green catsup are the same yellow and blue dyes that have
been used for decades in foods in the US -- they aren't new dyes.  There is
no reason to suspect that they will have any impact on children's
cognition, behavior, or growth.  And if you've SEEN the new green catsup,
as I have, you would know that it will go down as a marketing disaster on
the order of New Coke.  It is such a hideous color that they had to hide it
behind a plastic label that covers the whole bottle.  My children refused
to eat it.  It looks like bile.
