Notwithstanding the deepness of the mother's sleep, this sounds to me more
different in degree than in kind from other reports of sleepiness with MER.
We have discussed these on LN several times over the years -- I have noticed
those discussions because I myself am prone to fall asleep with letdown,
though never so profoundly as this case. Periodically we have seen reports
posted that a mother is thinking of weaning because of extreme sleepiness
associated with bf, and someone says that "the mother is only tired because
she has a new baby." This is to my mind a good example of failing to listen
to the mother, and I am always one of the voices saying that breastfeeding
really does make some people sleepy; but I am never the only voice saying
this.
Cathy, if you find out more about this case would you please post the
updates? Even if we can shed no light on this mother's difficult situation,
she may be able to shed light on our easier ones.
Thanks. Elisheva
