Just back from The Art of BFing Conference in Raleigh NC. It was great to
meet some more Lactnetters and get some great information. Dr Low Dog
presented two sessions -one on Herbs and one on Native American Medicine. Her
knowledge of herbs and the medicinal uses is amazing. The bottom line on
Fenugreek is OK if not taken in mega doses. I would post more notes but I
didn't unpack my conference bag. There was also a good session on Brain
Development of the Infant, one on Breast Lumps, one on Epidurals Effects on
BFing with Jan Riodan, and Dr Wolfe presented a very interesting session on
the decline of bfing and the increase in artificial milk feeding and its
relationship to the unsanitized methods in the dairy industry and the
campaign to clean up the dairy industry at the turn of the century.
I presented two sessions on setting up Worksite Lactation Centers during
breask out sessions-lots of interest displayed.
After spending the afternoon on Sunday with the ABM rep, I enjoyed two whole
days and an evening with BFing folks!
