Since I've just been skimming LACTNET the  past few weeks, somebody may have
mentioned this already and if so, I am sorry for the repeat.

There is an article in today's paper from Reuters News Service in Chicago
about heavy pacifier use by infants after six months of age increasing the
risk of ear infections.  The study was done in Finland and found that those
who did not use a pacifier continuously had 33% fewer episodes of acute
otitis media.

I haven't seen it yet, but the study was published in this month's issue of
PEDIATRICS, the journal of the AAP.
