Depo is given very regularly at my hospital. The Powers That Be know the
manufacturer recommends Depo after 6 weeks. But because there are NO
STUDIES that prove Depo inhibits lactation when administered earlier
(before discharge or as soon as 24 hours post delivery) they continue to
strongly encourage it as the first choice for birth control. Anecdotal
reports are of no value or concern on this topic. One reason was that
the women may not come back for their 6 week checkup to get their BC
meds. My Q is what's to be sure the women will come back after 3 mos for
another Depo shot?
Now, I read there's a study showing that Depo actually increases milk
supply? That's a surprise. Anyone know where this is published?
