I have taken ante-natal education for over 10 years, but in recent times my
partner (who is an experienced counsellor/therapist) has taken the men for a
"boys talk" - they discuss anything and everything. I always get him to
bring up the subject of bf support; but other topics are circumcision, sex,
relationships with their own dads, creative fathering etc etc.
It is the most popular session in the evaluations by the men, and i almost
always have to call a halt due to time delays!
I speak with the women about lochia, pads,bf bras etc - things guys don't
always want to hear!
I agree with Teresa - jealousy over bf is symptomatic of other issues.
Exclusive bf lasts a short time - the dads can see things in a different
light when you point out how long you will be getting kids solid meals in
comparison to bf!
Many bottle-feeding parents have limited sex lives too!
And if a baby is being artifically-fed, then I think the Mum should be doing
all the feeds anyway - not passing the baby around so others can have a
turn.
