Sorry I'm forgetting who posted this but I've had a few breastfeeding babies with heart disease. Presently in my practice there is one with a 3 chambered heart.
The babies with mild to moderate disease who were also acynotic did well.
The little guy with the 3 chamber heart had no exercise tolerance so he easily fatigued while feeding. Mom still directly breastfed but we also did some supplements of expressed milk or formula. In his case Neosure for added calories and b/c of the additional nutrient mix. We also played with some additional calorie sources such as 2cc/kg/day of corn oil and had to resort to overnight NG feeds. He did well and post 2 surgeries breastfeds well.
There isn't much in the literature but it does talk of less stress and better O2 sats while breast vs bottle feeding.
Ruth Lawrence's text has some info and there was an article a few years ago in JHL with some references.
