I asked my husband, an optometrist, if he could think of any reason to deny
Lasik surgery to a woman, 15 months postpartum, who is breastfeeding. He
mentioned the meds such as topical steroids that the surgeon might feel to be
an issue, and said that prescription changes that occur with pregnancy
usually are worse in the first trimester of the first pregnancy. He asked me
to be sure to say that he is not a surgeon. However, he pointed out that
anytime a surgeon recommends postponing elective, highly profitable surgery,
there is probably a good reason!
