Lynn,
You're point is well taken, and I am probably taking a little more latitude
with my statement than I would in any other format. However, I feel that
with having many friends that are RN "lactation nurses" (no IBCLC's around
here), and having worked from a referral basis with these and other nurses
for years (does that make sense?), I have a working idea of their
responsibilities, as well as their general skill level concerning
breastfeeding. Now, I do realize the impact of the fact that they are *not*
IBCLC's, but have had various levels of lactation training.
I strongly agree that we all need to work together for a goal of the IBCLC
being valued as it's own industry standard, and standing alone without any
other alphabet soup!
Sincerely,
Lisa Huntze, IBCLC (period)
