I have been helping a mom who has a 9 month old. She has been exclusively
pumping for this baby from the beginning. No problems with supply, in fact
she has milk stored in the freezer. The baby never latched on and we don't
really know why but mom just resolved to stop the frustrating battle at
about one month and just pump. >>
Having dealt with older babies on nursing strikes, I suggest co-bathing,
sitting on floor with mom topless and playing with baby, no expectations, no
trying to force baby to BF, just having the breasts available, having another
BF mom over and let baby watch others BF (one close in age or older would be
ideal-baby's bound to want to copy, eventually), co-sleeping topless- and
doing all these things repeatedly and with a "ho hum" attitude of "maybe it'l
work, maybe not today," so mom doesn't convey the tons of anxiety and
hopefulness she's feeling which can increase baby's anxiety. Some of these
have worked with moms and strikers, especially the topless, availability
thing. Good luck!
