The only time I ever succeeded in getting this point across well to someone
who hadn't gotten it already was this past fall, when I asked a 2 day pp mom,
already at the end of her very short, short, short rope, "If somebody brought
you the most delicious Thanksgiving dinner in the whole world, and then hit
you over the head with the turkey carcass, would it make you ask for seconds
of gravy, or would you excuse yourself from the table as quick as you could?"
*After* she laughed, she relaxed enough to understand the point.
But really I agree with Cathy -- modeling calm and patience is the best way
to teach calm and patience.
