I don't know if this is relevant here or not, but one time I ordered a
breast ultrasound because a lactating woman had a persistent lump - and the
radiologist reported multiple small cysts as well as the obvious one. I
could imagine small cysts (too small to be palpable) could cause blocked
ducts in different areas.
Another question: Jan, you said she was Japanese. I wonder if she is eating
a typical Japanese diet (lots of soy products) or has changed to an American
diet (more dairy, caffeine)?
