Ann,
regarding the mom of a 6 month old who, approx 24 hours ago, overdosed on
Tylenol and Vicodan:
Mucomyst is given directly to infants 6 months of age for Tylenol overdose,
so the fraction of the maternal dose in milk is not a problem. Watch for
possible vomiting and diarrhea, but unlikely.
The half life of Vicodan is 3.8 hours.
Milk levels of Tylenol are up to 0.23% (0.0023) of the mother's plasma
level and the half life is 2 hours.
I hope that this is helpful. I spoke to Cheryl Hawkins of the Rocky
Mountain Poison Control Center at 800/525-6115 for information on Mucomyst.
That number is specifically for Tylenol overdose questions.
