Hello again...my thoughts regarding this weaning thread are that regardless
of whether this weaning occurred at two weeks, two months, or two years,
whether it was mother led or not, it was an *abrupt* weaning. We all know
that abrupt weaning is physically and emotionally traumatic to both mother
and child. Sure, it's great that she nursed for over two years, however,
it doesn't make this weaning any less traumatic. Even mother led weaning
can be gradual.
One mother I know weans her toddlers by going away for a long weekend and
leaving the babe with dad. She is shocked and hurt each time when the child
rejects her upon her return. Imagine that.
