breast abscesses, all at various stages of lactation ranging from one week
to 10 months. Most of the surgeons who do the incision and drainage are not
supportive of continued breastfeeding after surgery ....>

Sometimes these things come in runs, but it is worth trying to work out if
there is any pattern.
Did these women all give birth in the same hospital?
What antibiotics are commonly prescibed for mastitis?
Is there a hospital infection control person who would know if there has
been an increase in abscesses in general? Or would hospital medical records
have this information?
What a pity the surgeons use incision and drainage. Most abscesses can be
treated by needle aspiration. Radiologists will do it here, under ultrasound
control.
