I agree with Pat.  Absolutely no reason to stop breastfeeding because of
metronidazole.

1. we give it to babies in large doses.  sometimes these babies weigh only
600 grams or even less.
2. the amount that gets into the milk is very small.
3. the risks of not breastfeeding are greater than the small amount of
metronidazole in the milk.

There is an alternative to metronidazole, but its name escapes me at the
moment.  It is also safe for the nursling because it is not absorbed from
the gut.  But it is not necessary to use because metronidazole is safe.

The various med helplines better get their information straight.
