When my son was 4, he developed HSP. Indeed, he had the body rash, but
his knee joints, hand and finger joints and testicles were involved as
well. All joint areas swelled up tremendously and were extremely
painful to the touch. His fever was very high, above 103.0 for many
days and he was a very unhappy little person.

I was nursing his 10 month old sister and if I had the knowledge then,
that I know now, I would have pumped breastmilk for him. He didn't have
any renal damage, but to this day, has some difficulty with swelling in
his knees. I can't see how breastmilk would hurt. I would make
"milk-pops" for this little three year old, by freezing breastmilk into
popsicles, or even into icecubes and making a fruit-and-breastmilk
smoothie. Hope this helps. Let us know what happens.

Heidi, who's son is now 11, and recovering from bilateral foot surgery.
I'm so sad I cannot "nurse" away his pain like when he was younger.
