I need suggestions on this case:

Mom is very motivated to nurse and has been supplementing with (until last
weekend) one bottle of ABM in the evening. Last weekend baby was very fussy
after feeds and mom resorted to a bottle ABM after a couple of feeds. She
is now doing this every day. Baby nurses 8 or more times a day and at 3.5
months weighs 10# 2 oz. from a birth weight of 7#. Baby has a normal
stooling pattern. I myself have observed baby at breast for an entire
feeding. Latch was wide, posiition fine, immediate letdown, baby has nice
suck swallow. I did not see any notable problems. Mom is extremely
frustrated because she said that her baby fights her at the breast. She has
not yet enjoyed breastfeeding. Of course I did not pick up on any adversion
from the baby when they visited. It was a perfect feeding and mom said I
knew this would happen. One thing I did see that baby was aggressively
showing oral cues when mom got ready to leave/ about 30 minutes after the
feeding. The feeding was total 10 minutes but active with good gulps the
entire time. Baby took herself off the breast - sleeping. Baby slowed on
first breast after about 4-5 minutes and went on to second breast. I have
thought of disproportion of foremilk to hindmilk - but this baby is so busy
thatmy thoughts were she manages at her age to get the hindmilk. I am
missing the obvious, we have changed positions to avoid overactive letdown,
we have tried waking baby out of sleep so baby is not ravenous. I know I
will get lots of ideas. Please post either on the net or privately. Mom is
aware - Would you try galactogogues, get rid of the ABM,
What mom describes is that baby nurses for a few minutes then pushes
herself off of the breast. Mom thinks it is because she doesn't have enough
milk.
Mom is well read, today is convinced it is her supply and a neighbor told
her to drink more! Reply please - seems so elementary doesn't it?
TIA - Sue Majoris, Indiana, Pa. Brisk at dusk and dawn. I fear the winter
winds will soon blow.
