The mom of the "munching" baby has now been for three treatments with the
Chiropractor (there are no local CST therapists). I asked the mom what type
of treatment was given to the baby. At the initial visit, he held the baby
up by the feet and did some spinal adjustment, but the main work was
actually done inside the baby's mouth. The baby was calm throughout the
visit and the mom found that the baby had a much stronger suck afterwards.
She reported that there was no further improvement after the 2nd visit and
as the third visit was only yesterday, I have not had a further update. This
baby is now taking less time to feed and on the odd occasion has fallen
asleep at the breast, which delights the mother. The baby is gaining well
and the mom continues to give extra ABM (still at the breast) after feeds if
the baby will not settle. A nipple shield is still being used but the baby
appears to have a much better milk transfer rate with it than without it.
The mom is going to try and increase the number of times she is pumping to
see if this will increase her milk supply. She is nervous about stopping the
additional feeds but maybe if the baby's suck improves still further, she
will become more confident.

Jennifer, I will contact this Chiropractor and find out if he is a "Network"
practitioner. Thank you for sharing the information about the differences
between these practices.
