Nikki, thank you for that article.  I hope that other hospitals and OBs
will respond to ACOG's scrutiny.

I had a client last week who was relating her birth story and said that
they had a long trip to the hospital so they left a bit earlier than they
could have.  Upon arrival she wasn't dialated very much so they began with
pitocin.

I asked why was that done and she said that instead of sending her back
home they would hasten the delivery.  Baby had other plans and after a very
long period of pit, she had a c-section. In further explanation of why they
had to induce, she said that insurance would challenge paying for her to be
at the hospital if they weren't "doing something." So she had to drive back
home or be induced.

The little one has had a lot of learning to do in order to get to the breast.
