>Hmm. I have always discussed extended nursing and nursing while pregnant

meeting.
Wondering then if it's a product of the area I live in. I am in SLC, Utah.
State of many babies, one would think that other moms would have these
questions too. In the alternative group that was created all the attending
moms felt like their questions were out of turn for their LLLI meetings (two
different LLLI groups). The LLL groups that I have attended have been very
anxious to remain on topic (the 5 week series), and many moms felt their
questions were rushed. When I discussed becoming a leader with LLLI, I was
told that each group must adhere to the 5 weeks series (I have the email
somewhere that they sent me). I asked if it were possible to start a group
for moms with alternative views that still were very much in the LLL scope
and was told no. So unfortunately in our area the moms only have a
mainstream view of breastfeeding. I try to drop in on LLL meetings every
few months so I can help moms that feel like they aren't getting what they
want from their specific group. It's hard, I think LLLI is such a WONDERFUL
organization and it's unfortunate that in many suburban areas it seems to be
mainstream only.
