I know I haven't been reading LACTNET as carefully as I probably should
lately, but I understand that bromocriptine has been taken off the market
as a lactation suppressant.
However, I was interested to read that Dr. Helene Bertrand (formerly
Cantelon), a family practitioner in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, who was on
the LLL Board of Medical Advisors for many years, will be giving
a presentation on "Smoking Cessation Therapy and Bromocriptine"
at the University of British Columbia. The title does no indicate that
this seminar involves lactation, of course, but I wondered if anyone on
LACTNET knew what how bromocriptine might be effective in smoking
cessation therapy. (I hope this is not too off-topic. If so, email me
privately at [log in to unmask])
If anyone wants to attend this seminar, I will look up the dates and
times (which I have around here somewhere). I don't otherwise know much
about Dr. Bertrand except that she gave an excellent presentation on
nursing children past the age of 4 at an LLL conference I attended in 1987.
