One possibility here is painful reflux. This is fairly typical
behaviour for either silent reflux or 'regular' reflux. They might
like to try keeping baby more upright, including during feeds, and
see if that reduces the baby's distress. I would also ask about how
happy baby is at other times and if he vomits (and when).
