Does anyone have information/examples of informed consent for breast
reduction and lactation outcome? I'm always hopeful when a mom attempts
breastfeeding after breast reduction, but statistically these moms have not
done well in our area. A local surgeon tells them that they will not have
any problems with breastfeeding, yet most of them do. Two physicians, one
obstetrician and one pediatrician, have agreed to help me approach this
surgeon with the issues pertaining to lactation success after his surgery
and to ask him specific questions about how he performs the procedure.
We'd like to know if other surgeons include this risk in their informed
consent.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
